PINE CREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Felony contraband and related charges have been filed against an inmate who was reportedly caught in possession of heroin at the Jefferson County Jail earlier this year.
Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 20-year-old Brenton Scott Rodkey, of Karthaus, on November 25.
According to a criminal complaint, around 12:18 p.m. on May 22, Punxsutawney-based State Police were dispatched to the Jefferson County Jail after suspected heroin was discovered in an inmate’s possession.
At the scene, police spoke to a corrections officer who reported that Brenton Rodkey was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail from the Clearfield County Jail around 10:33 a.m.
The officer reported that when Rodkey’s belongings were searched, a small stamp bag of heroin was discovered in his wallet. The stamp bag was then seized and placed in evidence while Rodkey was processed, the complaint states.
The following charges were filed against Rodkey through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office on November 25:
– Contraband/Controlled Substance, Felony 2
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on January 5, 2020, with Judge Bazylak presiding.
Court documents indicate Rodkey is currently serving a sentence of six months to one-year confinement at Camp Hill SCI on one second-degree misdemeanor count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
