Five Injured in Interstate 80 Crash in Jefferson County

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Five people were injured in a one-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 80 Westbound in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

DuBois-Based State Police said the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. near mile marker 92.8.

According to Tpr. Dandrea, 42-year-old Bhavin Chokshi, of Okemos, Michigan, was traveling west on Interstate 80 when he fell asleep at the wheel.

Police said Chokshi’s 2014 Toyota RAV4 veered off the roadway and into the median. Chokshi attempted to regain control of the vehicle; however, he overcorrected and the RAV4 rolled over once before coming to a final rest facing east in the median.

Chokshi and the following passengers, all from Okemos, Michigan, were transported to Penn Highlands DuBois for treatment of minor injuries:

– 39-year-old Naisha Chokshi
– 61-year-old Anandi Panchal
– 10-year-old female
– 10-year-old male

Bhavin Chokshi was issued a traffic citation.

Falls Creek VFD, DuSan Ambulance Service, and Tpr. Perry assisted at the scene.

Zimmerman’s Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
