Four Golden Eagle Divers Net All-America Honors on Final Day at NCAAs

GENEVA, OH — The Golden Eagle women’s swimming & diving team enjoyed one final flourish at the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, crowning four total All-Americans and closing out a stellar week at the SPIRE Institute.

Alexa Gonczi, Luna Castellanos, and Katie Madigan all added All-American honors on Saturday, with the trio finishing in the top-eight of the Women’s 1-Meter Dive.

Gonczi led the field after the afternoon preliminaries, with Castellanos checking in at third and Madigan in at seventh. That led to a closely-contested Saturday night final that featured some of the most competitive diving of the week on either board.

Gonczi took third place with a score of 442.90 to mark her second top-eight finish of the meet and her fourth overall All-American honor.

Castellanos did likewise, finishing fifth with a score of 420.55 for her fourth consecutive top-eight finish, while the sophomore Madigan earned her second straight All-American honor with a seventh-place finish and a score of 416.40.

Colleen Hudson, meanwhile, finished the day with All-America Honorable Mention honors, capping a successful freshman season that saw her earn national recognition on both days of women’s diving competition. Hudson took fifth in the consolation final and 13th overall with a score of 374.65, two days after being one of four Golden Eagles to place in the top-eight in the Women’s 3-Meter dive. That occurrence on Thursday evening was actually the first instance of four women making the finals of a single board since 2007, when four Clarion divers turned the trick.

Also competing on Saturday morning was Hannah Greenway, who concluded her junior season with her second race of the NCAA Championships.

Greenway competed in the 100 Free prelims, touching the wall with a time of 53.08. The junior capped the best season of her college career, one in which she earned her first-ever trip to the NCAA Championships.

Clarion finished the meet with 109 total team points, putting them in 14th place overall.
