Francis John Bozic

Francis John Bozic, 91, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022 with family by his side.

He was born on July 28, 1931 in Johnstown, the son of the late Louis and Erma (Hare) Bozic.

On August 9, 1958, he married Patricia (Shiock) Bozic, who preceded him in death on January 30, 2022.

Francis served his country in the United States Army with a rank of sergeant in the Korean War.

After his service to his country, he joined the Pennsylvania State Police.

During his 25 year career as a state trooper, he was stationed at Troop C Punxsutawney where he held positions as a garage inspector and quartermaster while also performing with the State Police Rodeo.

Upon retirement from the state police, Frank went on to own “Frank’s Cabinets”, designing and installing custom cabinets and countertops.

He was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, Elks, and Eagles.

Frank was known as a hardworking, dedicated family man, and his daughters often referred to him as “1-800-dad” because if something was broken, he was the guy to call.

He took great pride in keeping a nice lawn at home and loved a shiny, clean truck.

Mr. Bozic had many nicknames over the years.

His Johnstown family and friends knew him as Buddy, his Punxsutawney friends knew him as Frank, and his grandchildren knew him as Bubby.

Frank is survived by his two daughters: Kimberly Kopas and her husband Michael of Punxsutawney, and Leslie Bozic and her companion, Sam Levy of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren: Courtney Humphrey and her husband Jordan of Raleigh, NC and Dane Kopas of Baltimore, MD; five siblings: Patricia Ribblett of Johnstown, Jeanne McGregor of TX, Dorothy Altimus of Johnstown, Michael Bozic and his wife Barb of Johnstown, and Barbara Moschgat of Johnstown.

In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by four siblings: Louis Bozic, Joseph Bozic, Ethel Frederick, and Rosemarie Hribar.
