Frank’s Big Day Lifts DCC Softball to Victory; Lingenfelter Tosses Gem for Punxsy

ST. MARYS, Pa. (D9Sports) – Jordy Frank came within a single of hitting for the cycle, as visiting DuBois Central Catholic rolled to a 15-7 win at Elk County Catholic.

Frank was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run while also walking, scoring four times and driving in four runs for the unbeaten Lady Cardinals.

Ashley Wruble also went deep and added a double for DCC while going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs with Macey Hanes going 4-for-5 with a double and a triple and three runs scored.

Riley Assalone and Shay Gulvas also chipped in with doubles with Assalone going 2-for-4 with an RBI and four runs scored in support of her own cause and Gulvas going 3-for-5 with a run scored and four RBIs. Libby Mauer chipped in a pair of singles and two RBIs.

Brandi Clyde and Emily Evers both hit home runs for ECC with Brianna Weisner and Josie Smith chipping in with doubles.

Clyde was 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs, Evers was 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and two RBIs, Weisner was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Smith was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Assalone got the win going seven innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Michelle Gerber took the loss pitching 3 ⅔ innings giving up 11 runs, all earned, on 13 hits. She struck out one.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 3, CORRY 1

CORRY, Pa. – Kylee Lingenfelter helped her own cause with a double and two RBIs, as visiting Punxsutawney beat Corry, 3-1.

Lingenfelter, who was 1-for-4 at the plate, picked up the complete-game victory going seven innings allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out 15. She has not given up an earned run since the fourth inning of an April 17 game against Elk County Catholic, a span of 46 ⅔ innings. It also marked her third consecutive game of at least 15 strikeouts and her sixth of the year. Her earned run average was lowered to 0.51.

Tessa Winebark also had a double and an RBI in the game for the Lady Chucks, while Alli Ishman had a pair of hits.

CURWENSVILLE 15, KANE 4, 5 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Bailey Blooms went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, two stolen bases and three RBIs to lead Curwensville to a 15-4, five-inning win over visiting Kane.

Hannah Dixon added a pair of hits, including a double, two RBIs, four runs scored and three stolen bases for the Lady Tide with Chloe Tubbs going 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Keisha Maines chipped in a pair of hits and two runs scored as well.

Clerissia Cole got the win going five innings allowing four runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out two.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 10, CLEARFIELD 0, 5 INNINGS

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Maddie Lucas, Kylie Thal and Maggie Peck all went deep in the first two innings helping Philipsburg-Osceola to a 10-0, five-inning victory over visiting Clearfield.

Lucas hit a three-run home run and Thal a solo shot to help the Mounties build a 4-0 lead at the end of an inning. Peck then made it 7-0 after two with a three-run shot in the second. Rachel Simpson and Kylie Adams each added two hits for P-O with one of Simpson’s being a double.

Kam Harris got the win going four innings allowing three hits while striking out seven.

Erica Hanes took the loss going four innings allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on nine hits, four walks and a hit batter while striking out one.
