GANT: Houtzdale Man Faces Sexual Assault Charges

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (GANT) – A local man faces several felony charges for the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.

According to a news release issued by Clearfield Regional police, the incident was reported Feb. 4 but had occurred in 2018 at a Clearfield residence.

The victim told authorities that Herman “Tom” Custred, 59, of Houtzdale used a hairbrush to assault her and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Custred was served the warrant April 4 and incarcerated in county jail on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, IDSI forcible compulsion, IDSI threat forcible compulsion, IDSI person less than 16 years, unlawful contact with a minor-sexual offenses, sexual assault and corruption of minors, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor indecent assault.

Custred is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing April 10 during centralized court.
