Gary D. Gilbert, 78, DuBois, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021.
Born March 3, 1942, in DuBois, he was the son of the late David and Adlene (Alexander) Gilbert.
On August 24, 1963, he married Joan (Edinger) Gilbert in Punxsutawney, Pa. She survives.
Gary graduated from the DuBois Area High School in 1960. He was a supervisor for Penelec for 30 years before his retirement. For a total of 24 years, Gary served the City of DuBois either on the DuBois City Council or as the mayor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the 3rd Ward Hose Company.
Gary especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by two children, Jeffery (Jennifer) Gilbert, St. College, and Lisa Noble, Erie; four grandchildren, Kathleen “Katie” Johnston, Alex Noble, and Emily and Maxwell Gilbert; a great-grandchild, Amari Johnston, and his nieces. He was the last member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Amy Gilbert, and his brother, Donald Gilbert.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be no public visitation or service. A Memorial Service in Gary’s honor will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
