Gene A. Yount, 76 of Summerville, Pa. died on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Penn Highland Hospital in Brookville.
Gene was born on February 19, 1940, in Summerville, to the late Malcom M. and Leanore M. Newcome Yount.
Gene was a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College having received a Bachelors and Masters degree in art education. He taught art at Redbank High School for over thirty years.
Gene loved bingo, art, and the companionship of his dogs, most recently Sweetie. He was a member of the Summerville Presbyterian Church and former member of the Lions Club in New Bethlehem.
Gene is survived by a sister, Geraldine Faye Stephon of Dillon, Montana, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a two sisters, Rita A. Yount and Judy Day; a two brothers, Rudy G. Yount and an infant brother.
His family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2016, from 9-11 a.m. at the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville, Pa., (www.furlongfuneralhome.com).
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Vandervort Cemetery, Clover Twp., Jefferson Co.
