George J. Bures

George J. Bures, 84, of Wyoming, PA passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at his home.

He was the beloved husband of Florence Savino Bures. Together they shared 63 years of marriage.

Born in DuBois, on October 31, 1939, George was the son of the late William and Celesta Auman Bures.

He was a member of St. Barbara’s Parish in Exeter.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a maintenance supervisor by the Dallas Correctional Facility.

George proudly served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963, during the Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis.

He loved his family immensely and had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed baseball games and was a loyal Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates, Steelers, and also an avid NASCAR fan. He loved fast cars, anything with a motor, and enjoyed tinkering with engines. He was always available to fix things, mostly cars. He had an incredible sense of humor and was a gifted storyteller with a special knack for making people laugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Annette Klinger.

Surviving are his wife, Florence; his children, William M. Bures and his partner, Joel Carrier, FL; Brenda Bures-Guidubaldi and her husband, John, OH; Philip J. Bures and his wife, Jill, Bermuda; and Kate Bures and her wife, Lori George, PA; four grandchildren, April Johnson and her partner Jason Martinko; Philip Johnson and his wife, Sarah; Nicole Schramek and her husband Todd; and Brittaney Baena-Bures; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

A committal service will follow immediately after from St. Catherine Cemetery with Msgr. Richard Siefer officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
