Gertrude M. (O’Leary) Wambach of Rochester, NY Passed away at age 86 on December 3, 2016 while surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Mathew and her son, Matthew.
She is survived by her children, Susie, Mark (Kathy), Mary, Gretchen, Warren (Kathy), Anne and Michele; many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Carol O’Leary Marasco of Punxsutawney.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, John T. and Winifred L. O’Leary; her sisters, Winnie, Mary, Marcella, Patty and Catherine; and her brothers, Jack, Bob and Tom.
Gertrude was a devout Catholic and deeply proud of her Irish heritage. In her 60’s, she went back to school to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree, spending one year at Oxford.
She was well traveled and was a lover of music. She took pride in her family and loved to share that it included Opera Singers and three people on the Who’s Who list.
Her Memorial Mass was held on Dec. 6, 2016, at St. Monica’s Church in Rochester, New York.
She requested that any memorial donations be made in her name to School of the Holy Childhood, 100 Groton Parkway, Rochester, NY 14623; to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center 2652 Ridgeway Ave., Rochester, NY 14626; or to a charity of one’s choice.
Her arrangements were entrusted to Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home.
