REYNOLDSVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A hearing date is approaching for a Reynoldsville man who is facing charges related to the alleged rape of two teenage girls.
According to court documents, a preliminary hearing for 66-year-old Joseph Albert Brown scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, with Magisterial District B. Inzana presiding.
The hearing has previously been continued twice.
Brown faces the following charges:
– Rape Forcible Compulsion, Felony 1 (two counts)
– Unlawful Contact With Minor – Sexual Offenses, Felony 1 (three counts)
– Statutory Sexual Assault: 8-11 Years Older, Felony 2
– Sexual Assault, Felony 2 (two counts)
– Aggravated Indecent Assault Without Consent, Felony 2 (three counts)
– Corruption Of Minors – Defendant Age 18 or Above, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Indecent Assault-Without Consent Of Other, Misdemeanor 2 (three counts)
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
He remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $150,000.00 monetary bail.
The charges stem from an investigation into allegations of rapes committed by Joseph Brown.
Details of the case:
According to a criminal complaint, around 9:30 a.m. on July 15, 2016, a dispatcher at the Punxsutawney-based State Police advised Chief Troy Bell there was a group of four individuals at his station reporting a rape that had occurred in the past at a residence on Grant Street in Reynoldsville.
Around 10:03 a.m. on July 15, 2016, Chief Bell met with a known man and two juvenile females.
According to the complaint, the known man related that while the females were living with a female relative, they disclosed to her that they were raped by Joseph Albert Brown. The known man took them to the Punxsutawney-based State Police where he was told they needed to speak to the Reynoldsville Police.
A forensic interview was then conducted with the victims on July 21, 2016.
According to the complaint, the first victim, who was 16 years old at the time of the interview, stated that Brown forced her to have sex with him, despite her attempts to stop him. She related this occurred when she was 15 years old and noted that Brown knew how old she was at the time.
The second victim, who was 16 years old at the time of the interview, stated that the first time Brown approached her, he attempted to take her clothes off, but stopped because he “was afraid to wake others up.” She reported that on a second occasion, Brown kissed her and touched her genitals, despite her requests for him to stop.
According to the complaint, the second victim also reported that on a third occasion, Brown forced her to have sex with him, although she screamed and protested. She noted that she was 16 years old at the time of the incidents.
Brown was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Michael J. Musulin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019.
