BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A hearing has been scheduled for a Jefferson County man who allegedly posed as an employee of a previous employer and purchased items under the company’s account.

Court documents indicate 39-year-old Daniel Alan Dawson, of Reynoldsville, is scheduled to stand in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak for a preliminary hearing at 1:15 p.m. on January 8, on the following charges:

– Forgery – Unauthorized Act In Writing, Felony 2 (11 counts)
– Theft By Deception-False Impression, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)
– Theft By Deception-False Impression, Misdemeanor 2 (nine counts)

Dawson remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail pending $50,000.00 monetary bail.

Details of the case:

Around 1:45 p.m. on December 20, two known businessmen arrived at the Brookville Borough Police Department to file a theft complaint. The businessmen stated that Dan Dawson had been purchasing items from a hardware store in Brookville posing as a contractor of their company, according to a criminal complaint.

It was learned that Dawson was a past employee of the company; however, he hadn’t been employed by the company since he was involved in a vehicle accident a year ago.

Through the investigation, it was discovered that Dawson had allegedly purchased items from July 14, 2018, through December 19, 2018, under a fictitious name, claiming to be an employee of the company, the complaint states.

The purchases totaled $1784.49.

He was arraigned at 1:15 p.m. on December 21 in front of Judge Bazylak.

Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.
