  • Identity Theft, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on August 30, 2018, Sargeant Murray, of the Reynoldsville Borough Police Department, received a phone call from a known Walmart employee stating that Cherie Glenn purchased a lighter and dropped a debit card belonging to another known individual from her wallet.

Sargeant Murray then contacted the individual who was named on the debit card.

According to the complaint, the victim reported that Glenn had taken the debit card and some checks from her residence without her permission while she was on vacation out of state. The victim provided a statement from her bank account showing two withdrawals for $300.00 each on August 16, 2018. Both transactions took place at a bank on Main Street in Reynoldsville Borough.

Sargeant Murray spoke with Glenn on September 6.

According to the complaint, Glenn allegedly said she took the card and checks because she needed to pay her gas bill and went on to say that she panicked because she knew she couldn’t stay in the house without the gas being on, and she didn’t know what else to do.

On September 13, Sargeant Murray obtained a search warrant for the surveillance video from the ATM machine located at the bank in Reynoldsville.

The complaint notes that the video showed Glenn entering the bank at approximately 7:54 a.m. on August 16, 2018, making two separate transactions by entering a personal identification number using the stolen debit card.

Based on the investigation, Glenn was arraigned on Monday, November 5, in Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office.

Unable to post $20,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

She was released on Wednesday, November 7, on a surety bond was posted by a professional bondsman.
