WARSAW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man is facing a hearing today on felony burglary and related charges after he reportedly broke into a house and stole a large can of loose change.
Court documents indicate 40-year-old Nicholas Andrew Ruby is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, on the following charges:
– Burglary – Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 1
– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Warsaw Township in late February.
According to a criminal complaint, around 3:00 p.m. on February 27, Nicholas Andrew Ruby entered through an unlocked rear window of a residence on State Route 28 in Warsaw Township, Jefferson County, went into a nearby bedroom, and removed a coffee can that contained $100.00 in loose change from the bedroom.
Ruby then allegedly went through the kitchen of the residence and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The complaint states the victim checked his trail camera that was placed inside the residence and noticed the crime had occurred, then contacted the DuBois-based State Police to investigate.
The victim told police he believed the individual caught on the trail camera was a man that worked at an area business. Trooper Beers went to the business in question the following day and showed two people there the photo. The individuals both identified the individual in the photo as Nicholas Ruby.
The charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office on Monday, March 9.
