Helen K. Crooks

Helen K. Crooks, age 96, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born January 9, 1920, in Worthville. The daughter of the late Burton R. and Hannah M. (Smith) Henry. She was married to John E. Crooks on December 24, 1938.

John preceded her in death on June 5, 2000. Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brookville since 1932 where she held numerous offices; deaconess, Sunday school secretary treasurer, church financial secretary, and a volunteer of other jobs.

She is a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Brookville Hospital. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, charter member of BPW, member of Martha V. Conrad Study Club, Charter member of Red Hat Society, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Brookville, where she served as a past Matron.

She was employed at Sylvania Electric for 14 years and worked for the Jefferson County Court House for 21 years. Helen volunteered at the Jefferson Manor and Senior Center.

She is survived by 2 Sons, Richard (Dorothy) Crooks of Arizona, and James Crooks of Ann Arbor, MI; 1 daughter,
Judy Songer of Brookville, PA; 4 brothers; 1 sister;6 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She really enjoyed her family.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 15, 2015, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy
Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825.

A funeral service will be held the following day at the First Baptist Church, 101 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825, beginning at 11am, with the Rev. David Borger officiating.

Interment to take place at the Ohl Cemetery in Beaver Twp. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to
the First Baptist Church of Brookville.
