Herman Ray Carlile

Herman Ray Carlile, 81 of O’Donnell Road, Sigel, died Monday, October 27, 2014, at Brookville Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1933, in Sweetwater, Texas to S.W. Carlile and Bertha (Berry) Carlile.

He served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in 1953 after graduating from high school.

Mr. Carlile had a successful career as a pipe liner and equipment operator.

He served 55 years with the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was proud of his years of service and shared many fond memories of his work with family and friends.

He enjoyed woodworking, reading, driving his Ranger, and being outdoors with his horses, dogs, cats and bees over the years.

He was a devoted husband, and kind and generous to all he met. He loved children and shared his love and excitement for learning with everyone he encountered.

His wife, Alice, passed into eternal rest on January 23, 2014.

He is survived by his mother, Bertha Carlile of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his brother Jerry (Dorothy) Carlile of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a sister Norma (the late Cletus) Mullins of Safford, Arizona; a sister Joan (the late John) Baker of Clarksville, Arkansas; daughter Karen (Bob) Nix of Henderson, Nevada; daughter Tamara (Joe Foldano) Patterson of Rialto, California; grandson Wesley Nix of Henderson, Nevada; and nephew Travis Troutman of Sigel, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife.

Friends will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29 in McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, Pa.

The time of his funeral ceremony is 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Hall officiating.

Interment will follow at Donahey Hill Cemetery, Millstone Township, Elk County, Pa.

Memorials can be made in memory of Mr. Carlile to the donor’s choice.
