Hit and Run Reported in Washington Township

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Airport Road, 279 feet east of Perrin Drive, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Police say around 4:20 p.m. on January 29, an unknown driver was traveling west on Airport Road (State Route 830) in an unidentified vehicle.

Chad T. Welsh, 33, of Brockway, was traveling east on the same roadway in a 2013 Workstar International Harvester.

According to police, the unknown driver apparently lost control of the commercial vehicle as it was rounding a left hand curve, and its trailer side-swiped the International Harvester.

The International Harvester came to a controlled stop in a driveway along State Route 830.

The unknown driver continued traveling west on State Route 830 and was determined to be the at fault vehicle.

Welsh was wearing a seat belt and sustained no injuries.

It is unknown if the other driver was injured.

No other information was provided.
