Home Destroyed by Fire in Banks Township

fire-truckBANKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, a fire occurred around 9:00 a.m. on September 28 at a residence located at 2596 Lockvale Road, in Banks Township, Indiana County.

Police say the occupant of the house – Lavina Miller – was in the basement doing laundry when she heard the smoke detector through a baby monitor. By the time she got upstairs, she found a bedroom engulfed in flames.

According to police, she exited the home with her three children – ages 3, 2, and an infant – and contacted 911.

Fire patterns on the exterior indicate the fire originated in the bedroom, police say.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.00.
