HS Softball Roundup: Eighteen-run Second Inning Lifts Brookville to First Win

Friday’s softball recaps.

BROOKVILLE 18, KANE 2, 3 INNINGS

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Trailing 2-0 at the time, Brookville sent 23 batters to the plate and scored 18 runs in the bottom of the second inning on their way to an 18-2, 3-inning win over visiting Kane.

Winning pitcher Carlie McManigle had all three of her hits in the second inning, including a double. In the circle, she struck out six and walked one while giving up four hits.

Also for the Lady Raiders, who gave first-year head coach Carlie Cook her first win, Elaina Powell, Jordan MacWilliams and Laken Hergert each had two hits. Caitlyn Hill chipped in with a double.

Kane got doubles from Sadie Tunall and Ashley Swanson.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 4, BROCKWAY 3

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Behind multiple-hit games from Rosina Nero, Josie Smith and Emily Wolf, Elk County Catholic scratched out a 4-3 win over Brockway on the road.

Nero had three hits for the Lady Crusaders, while Smith and Wolf each added two.

Michelle Gerber got the win tossing a six-hit complete game allowing the three runs.

Kaitlyn Morelli had a pair of hits and two runs scored for Brockway, which also got two hits from Andi Bartlett.
