Isabel Emma (Burkett) Hetrick

Isabel Emma (Burkett) Hetrick, 96, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, while a resident of Highland Oaks at Water Run in Clarion, PA.

She was born on June 9, 1927, to the late Charles C. and Emma M. (Himes) Burkett in Burkett Hollow, Jefferson County, PA.

She attended school in Burkett Hollow and went on to help with production at Sylvania in Brookville during World War II.

Isabel’s true passion was tending to her family and home, she was a wife and mother first and foremost and shared enough love to prove it.

Isabel was a devoutly Christian woman who took “love thy neighbor” to its fullest potential, being nothing but kind and sweet to all who crossed her path.

She was an attending member of multiple churches throughout her long life including Burkett Hollow Church, Evangelical United Methodist Church, and Pisgah Presbyterian Church.

Even after her health began to deteriorate and she could no longer easily travel, she continued supporting her faith by tuning into “The Jimmy Swaggart Telecast”.

Isabel married William D. “Kelly” Hetrick in 1948 in Worthville, PA.

Isabel shared sixty five wonderful years with the love of her life before his passing on April 27, 2013.

Now reunited, Isabel and Kelly are likely tending to their forever garden, enjoying each other as if a day hadn’t passed.

She loved her children that she took so much pride in, even facing the hardship of raising a mentally challenged son and her “bright spot”, Terry, while welcoming more infants into her life.

Isabel was always a family oriented person who was very closely knit to her eight siblings.

When she was younger, she even learned to cook from her mom, and would bake bread for the entire family at a young age.

This skill was also loved by her future children and husband who adored her cooking.

Isabel was also an adept musician who played piano by ear and would sing in a chorus with her siblings, traveling to multiple churches around their area.

She loved her siblings and even one of her favorite memories was visiting Florida with her husband and siblings.

She was a very simple woman who attributed her long life to being always happy, healthy, and living a pure life.

Isabel will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

Isabel is survived by two sons; Terry Hetrick; Timothy (Joyce) Hetrick; three daughters; Pamela (Timothy) Dougherty; Jill (Jeffrey) Walters; Lori (Leonard) Dolby; one sister; Agnes Burns; two brothers; Nelson Burkett; Kenneth (Cathy) Burkett; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
