Ivan KilmerIvan H. Kilmer passed away April 2, 2017 at Christ the King Manor.

He was born January 13, 1927 on the family farm in Sabula, to Charles & Blanche (Beer) Kilmer.

He married his wife of 67 years Edith (Woods) Kilmer on February 11, 1950 at the Boone Mountain Church in Sabula.

Ivan attended the DuBois Area Schools before entering the US Army.

He was stationed in Okinawa before returning home to help on the family farm.

Ivan drove a truck for Shaw Trucking in Brockway until his retirement.

He was a life member of the NRA and the DuBois Rifle & Pistol Club “Green Mountain League”.

He loved hunting, driving truck, farming, gardening and his blueberry bushes. He especially loved his family.

Ivan is survived by his wife Edith Kilmer, four sons Dale (Kathy) of Sabula, David (Bonnie) of Biglerville, Bradley (Judy) of Sabula and Scott of Sabula, one sister Alice Mae (Harold) Muth of Troutville, four grandchildren Steven (Vickie) Kilmer of Dover, PA, Amy Heuser & fiancé Mark Sprague of DuBois, Betsy (Jonathan) Crawford of Treasure Lake, and Katie Kilmer of Erie, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers George “Bill” and James, one sister Betty Jane Pentz, one grandson Robert Kilmer, one great-granddaughter Adison Sprague and two step-grandchildren Amy Angel and Jason Smith.

Ivan loved life. He always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and a helping hand for anyone who needed it.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, from 4 – 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois.

Services will follow at 11a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Sherwood officiating.

Military Honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.

Family suggests donations to either the Alzheimer Association or Christ the King Manor.
