James W. Rader

James W. Rader of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away at his home on July 31, 2018, at age 91.

James was born on April 22, 1927, in McKeesport, PA. He was the son of the late James F. and Margaret (Zipfel) Rader.

James was veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served his country for years.

James worked at Pratt Whitney for many years as an electrician and engineer building engines for aircrafts and spacecrafts.

Jim was a friendly man helping out whomever was around. He was a big part of the Boy Scouts of America by volunteering his time to Troop 840 in Florida. He also helped with the National Jamboree for boy scouts at the Tanah Keetah Boy Scouts Reservation in Florida and received the distinguished Silver Beaver award for his service.

Jim was a member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association, American Legion, and the Audobon society.

Jim enjoyed coming back to Pennsylvania yearly to camp at White Haven Campground in Cook Forest, PA, for the summer to visit his family and friends. He enjoyed birds, feeding his chipmunk Pedro, making walking sticks, hunting, camping, and going to flea markets. He enjoyed living in the Hobe Sound trailer park for years where he enjoyed helping his neighbors and enjoying time with them.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by two brothers, John Rader, and Robert Rader, and one sister, Martha Lindermuth.

He is survived by six nephews, James Smail, David Rader and his wife, Kenneth (April) Smail, Drew (Andrea) Wallace, Kevin Smail and his fiancé Jaime Confer, and Scott Wallace and fiancé Lindsay Lewis; four nieces, Kathleen (Richard) Wallace Michelle (Milt) Ragsdale, Keli Brown, and Kristen Smail. He was a beloved great uncle to many great-nieces and nephews.

There will be no viewing. A memorial service will take place at a later date chosen by his family and will be at Pekin Run where he enjoyed hunting and spending time in the wilderness.
