Jefferson Co. Woman Accused of Choking Victim in Struggle Over House Key

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Jefferson County woman is facing charges after she allegedly choked a female victim during an argument over a house key.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 20-year-old Masie Leigh Frampton, of Punxsutawney:

  • Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:12 a.m. on Friday, December 14, Officer Winfield, of the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department, was dispatched to a residence on Jenks Avenue for a report of an individual being strangled.

Officer Winfield proceeded to the scene where he met Massie Frampton in the rear of the residence.

According to the complaint, Frampton stated she was just leaving, and when asked about what happened, she said that she and another woman had engaged in an argument.

A known woman then exited the residence. The complaint notes that the woman had a red scratch mark on the side of her neck, and her neck was also red.

According to the complaint, the female victim stated that she and Frampton got into an argument, and the victim took Frampton’s phone, put it in her pocket, and told Frampton she would return the phone when Frampton returned a house key that was in her possession.

The victim reported that Frampton began to grab at her, and she pushed Frampton’s hands away.

According to the complaint, the victim stated that Frampton then grabbed her by the throat and started to choke her. She reported the struggle continued until a third woman entered the room and pulled Frampton off of her.

The victim also noted that the children in the house were frightened and crying. She said that Frampton then got her daughter, returned the house key in question, got her phone, and left the residence.

Frampton was arraigned at 2:25 p.m. on Friday, December 14, in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office.

Unable to post $20,000.00 monetary bail (10%), Frampton was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, with Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock presiding.
