Jefferson County Fair Royalty Pageant Set for July 19

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – The 2015 Jefferson County Fair Royalty Pageant will be held at 2:30 p.m. on July 19, at the Jefferson County fairgrounds in Brookville.

Registration is free and open to the public for girls who reside in Jefferson County ages 8-20. No previous pageant experience is necessary.

Registration will be capped at 15 contestants for each age category, and registration will be closed on June 1, 2015.

There will be at least one mandatory pre-pageant meeting to explain the pageant schedule and the order of events.

All contestants must be residents of Jefferson County, and contestants under age 18 must have signed parental consent to compete.

Winners should be available to attend events at the fairgrounds during fair week.

It should be noted that winning contestants will agree to adhere to minimal dress-code guidelines for appearances at the fair in order to preserve the integrity of the representatives (i.e. no clothing which glorifies illegal activity, no suggestive clothing, must wear appropriate shoes, etc. —similar to a public school dress code).

  • Ages 16-20 JEFFERSON COUNTY FAIR QUEEN
  • Ages 12-15 JUNIOR QUEEN
  • Ages 8-11 PRINCESS

The Fair Princess category is for girls ages 8-11.

Girls will be judged on talent as well as poise and personal appearance.

Junior Queen is for girls 12-15; girls will be judged on talent, on-stage question, and poise and personal appearance.

The Fair Queen category for is for young ladies age 16-20—contestants will be judged on pre-pageant interview (held the day of the pageant) poise and personal appearance, on-stage question, and a 3-5 minute speech to be presented the day of the pageant (topic is yet to be determined).

Young ladies interested in the queen category should also be prepared to speak knowledgeably about a “platform” of their choice (i.e. autism awareness, benefit organization, volunteering, or another cause about which the contestant feels passionately).

Contestants are urged to be creative in their platform choice, as there is no wrong answer; this portion of the contest is meant to showcase the diversity, enrichment, and involvement of the participants in their community and will highlight the causes about which they feel strongly.

Each age category will crown a winner who will be awarded a sash and a tiara, and two runners up who will also receive sashes.

The Queen category features scholarship prizes for the top 3 contestants to be awarded to their institute of higher education.

The winner of the Queen category will proudly represent the Jefferson County Fair at the State Fair Queen pageant in Hershey, Pa. in January 2016 (accommodations provided for winning contestant. Jefferson County Fair Queen must attend state fair queen pageant or forfeit scholarship).

Applications will soon be distributed at local schools as well as businesses around the county, and applications will be available online beginning in April.
