Jefferson County Man Accused of Choking, Biting Woman on Christmas Eve

BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Jefferson County man is facing felony strangulation and related charges after he allegedly choked and bit a woman on Christmas Eve.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 40-year-old Brent Richard Minick, of Mayport.

According to a criminal complaint, on Monday, December 24, Brent Richard Minick was at a Beaver Township, Jefferson County residence with a known female victim when he allegedly grabbed her by the hair, hit her head off a door, and grabbed her throat, squeezing it, and making it difficult for her to breathe.

The complaint states that Minick also ripped a necklace off the victim’s neck and bit her left arm, breaking the skin and causing bruising to her left forearm and elbow. The victim also had a bruise on her right arm near her bicep from the assault.

The complaint notes that Minick had cuts and a bruise on the top of his head, but he would not comment on how he received the injuries.

Minick was arraigned at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 24, in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on the following charges:

  • Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

He is free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing for this case has not yet been scheduled.
