Jefferson County Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on I-80, Pine Creek Township

A moving ambulance on it''s way to a crash site. PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a Punxsutawney man was killed this afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 80 East, at mile marker 84, in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, around 2:23 p.m. on May 24, 67-year-old Russell R. Knarr, of Punxsutawney, was traveling east on I-80 in the left lane. While rounding a slight curve in the roadway, for an unknown reason, his 2002 Honda Goldwing abruptly swerved to the left.

The motorcycle traveled onto the north berm of the road, and the front of it struck the guide rails. Knarr was thrown off the motorcycle and traveled 50 feet into the medial before coming to rest, police say.

The motorcycle slid south, back onto the roadway, and traveled 54 feet before coming to a rest on its right side, facing west in the left travel lane, according to police.

Knarr was transported to Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police say.

Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene.
