BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — The Jefferson County Salary Board met Tuesday at Jefferson Place in Brookville and approved a number of pay hikes while also adding a second county detective position in the District Attorney’s office.
The salary board, which includes commissioners Jack Matson, Herb Bullers and Jeff Pisarcik and Treasurer James “Moon” VanSteenberg, voted to approve several measures, including raises for all elected officials and full-time, non-union employees.
All elected officials, which include the commissioners, treasurer, district attorney, coroner, district judges, judge, prothonotary and sheriff, will receive a raise of 1.009362 percent.
Full-time, non-union employees will receive a $.25 per hour raise.
The raises will go into effect January 1, 2018.
The commissioners approved creating a second county detective position for three days per week at $24,000 per year.
The position will be funded by the Victim/Witness/District Attorney Fee fund and DA’s forfeiture accounts.
If funding is insufficient from those sources, the position will be terminated or reduced to come within the available funds.
The commissioners also approved allowing qualified Sheriff’s Deputies to work as County Detectives for the purpose of investigating crimes committed at the county jail and courthouse, at the direction of the District Attorney’s office, with no additional compensation.
Changes were made for starting wage changes at the 911 Center for all full- and part-time employees, beginning January 1, 2018.
Training – $12.80 per hour;
Completion of Training – $13.50 per hour;
Two-plus years of service – $14.50 per hour;
Supervisor rate – $15.75 per hour.
The workweek of the Director of Finance will increase from 35 to 40 hours.
Other motions approved by the salary board include:
- The mileage reimbursement rate will be $.50 per mile;
- All per diem employees will be paid $8.75 per hour;
- ROW Office Solicitors rates for 2018 will be $2,000;
- The County Solicitor’s rate will be $30,000.
