Jody Lynne Cavazza

Jody Lynne Cavazza, 58, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, November 13, 2016 surrounded by her entire family at her daughter’s home after a long, courageous battle with ALS.

Ms. Cavazza was born December 27, 1957 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the Ernest and Izola (Dickey) Cavazza. They precede her in death.

She was a 1975 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, and the former DuBois Business College.

Surviving relatives include two daughters; Heather DeShong and Will Miner of Brookville, and Haley DeShong of Avonmore; three granddaughters, Madison, Quinn and Isla; three sisters, Linda DeWitte and husband Tom of Ligonier, Hollie Smoley of Ocoee, FL and Laurie Sprenger and husband Chris of Asheville, NC; one brother, Eric Cavazza and wife Betsy of Indiana; Nieces, Carrie, Lauren, Christina, Caroline; and nephews; Mathew Michael and Nathan.

In accordance to Jody’s wishes there will be no viewing. However, friends will be received for a time of Remembrance from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Jody’s wish was to be scattered on her favorite beach at a later date.
