John Francis Orsich

John Francis Orsich, 47, of Punxsutawney, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at his home.

John was born August 8, 1967 in Punxsutawney, a son of Alice (Kaza) Orsich of Punxsutawney who survives and the late Frank Orsich. He was a member of SS. Cosmas & Damian Church in Punxsutawney. John was employed by Goodwill Industries in the Punxsy retail store.

For many years John was the top money collector for the Run/Walk for Someone Special. He was a volunteer for church and community events. He would use his week vacation every year and volunteer for the SS. Cosmas & Damian Festival. He was a supporter for many community fundraisers and a faithful sports fan to all the Punxsutawney High School sports. John belonged to the ARC of Jefferson and Clearfield Counties where he was a Self-Advocate Board Member.

In addition to his mother Alice, John is survived by two sisters; Mary Christine Mangano and husband Brian of Methuen, MA., Beth Darnell of Brookville, four nephews; Michael, Matthew and Benjamin Mangano and Lewis Darnell of Pittsburgh as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 11 am Friday at SS. Cosmas & Damian Church with his uncle Msgr. Charles Kaza and his Pastor and friend Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as Celebrants. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
