John Thomas Shenkle

John Thomas Shenkle, 79, DuBois, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, at his home.

Born April 15, 1938, in DuBois, he was the son of the late Delbert and Dorothy (Thomas) Shenkle Sr.

He married Nancy J. Hawkins on June 19, 1964, in Chicago Ill.. She survives.

John was a graduate of the DuBois Area High School.

He previously worked for Rockwell International. He retired in 2004 after 24 years. He served in the Air Force.

He enjoyed camping, flying model air planes, woodworking, and spending time with family, especially his granddaughters.

John was Protestant by faith.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons, Terry (Lisa Marie) Shenkle, DuBois, John T. Shenkle Jr., N.C.; two granddaughters, Jenna Shenkle and Nikki (Kyle) Mann, both of DuBois; two additional grandchildren; five brothers, Delbert “Boots” (Lois) Shenkle, DuBois, Fred Shenkle, DuBois, William “Bull” (Niece) Shenkle, DuBois, Richard “Dick” (Nancy) Shenkle, North Carolina, and Earl “Pete” (Jan) Shenkle, DuBois; three sisters, Nancy Lucas, Vermont, Betty Ann (Bob) Curry, DuBois, and Laura Maczaczyj, DuBois, as well as several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bonnie D’Antonio, an infant sister, Dorothy Jean, and an infant brother, Robert Lee.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. with LaMarr Adamson, CLP officiating. Interment will take place in Lake Lawn Memorial Park.
