Local Businesswoman Kathleen “Kathy” Fremer Passes Away at 68

Kathleen “Kathy” M. Fremer, 68, of Game School Road, Brockway, Pennsylvania, died on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by family and friends after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in DuBois on Nov 5, 1953.

She was the daughter of the late John and Emma Alburg.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by an infant son and her husband Paul “Lunk” Fremer.

Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She adored time with family, especially her beautiful grandchildren.

She is survived by her eldest son, William “Billy” Fremer; a daughter, Rebecca (James) Fremer McCarthy; a son, Michael (Christiana) Fremer; and a son, Andrew (Kaitlin) Fremer all of Brockway.

Kathy was blessed as a “Grammy” to four grandchildren; Blakely, Lennox, Quinn, and Theodore Fremer. As well as, a step grandchild, Tiffany McCarthy.

In addition to her children, she is also survived by her siblings Connie (Richard) Mcelhinny and brother John (Suzy) Alburg.

At a young age, Kathy gained her business experience at the Alburg Family Store in Sugar Hill.

She worked alongside her husband running their sawmill, Fremer Lumber, and then developed Fremer Moulding Inc. in 1992.

She then established Bill’s Place in 2001, all of which are located in Brockway.

Being the wonderful business woman she was, she remained very involved even until her last days.

She was very proud to see these businesses continue through the hardwork of her children.

Kathy had many passions in life and did everything with her whole heart.

Many who loved Kathy, knew she had a way with words.

Kathy’s “letters” provided comfort and memories for many.

She also enjoyed reading, quilting, being on the Fremer farm and riding side by sides.

But more than anything, she cherished her time with family and being a “Grammy.”

She was always a very faithful member at St. Tobias Church and volunteered many years with the Rosary Society and Meals on Wheels.

She was a fouder and member of the Cherrywood Lumberman’s Association and was a board member for the Brockway School District for many years.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding.

Burial will follow ar St. Tobias Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Paul and Kathy Fremer Scholarship fund in care of S&T Bank in Brockway.
