Keystone Girls’ Basketball Looks for School History Wednesday

INDIANA, Pa. – The Keystone girls’ basketball team looks to make school history Wednesday when it takes on Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic in the second round of the PIAA Class A tournament at IUP’s Memorial Fieldhouse.

(9-1) KEYSTONE (19-7) vs. (7-2) CARDINAL WUERL NORTH CATHOLIC (24-3)

Game Details: 7:30  p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at IUP’s KCAC

Who the winner plays: Winner of the game between (6-1) Bishop Carroll and (7-3) Quigley Catholic Saturday at a site and time to be determined.

Keystone Top Players: Taylor Geer (13.5 ppg), Amber Hess (13.4 ppg, Josselin Geer (12.1 ppg)

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Top Players: Sam Breen (26.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 4.1 apg), Abby Goetz (9.0 ppg), Kylie Huffman (9.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg), Dani Short (8.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg).

Game Notes: Keystone is looking to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in school history. In fact, Saturday’s playoff win over Winchester Thurston is believed to be only the second PIAA win for the program … Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic was in the quarterfinals last year … The teams met in the 2012 second round with North Catholic coming out with the win … CW North Catholic is 7-2 in games vs. PIAA playoff teams this year (regardless of class). Keystone is 6-5.
