Knox Twp. to Purchase Two New Dump Trucks through USDA Rural Development Loan and Grant Combo

KNOX TWP., Pa. – Knox Township in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania will soon be able to purchase two new dump trucks through the USDA Rural Development Community Facility Loan and Grant program.

Rural Development was able to provide funding through a Community Facility loan and grant combination. The Community Facility loan is a low interest loan that totals $49,800, while the grant totals $50,000. An additional $19,700 in the form of an applicant contribution completes the funding for a total project cost of $119,500. These funds will be used for the purchasing of two replacement dump trucks to be used by the township for snow plowing, debris removal, and other forms of road maintenance. Rural Development is committed to the future of rural communities, and funding projects such as this one ensures that Knox Township will continue to be a clean and safe place to work and live.

In Pennsylvania last year, the USDA Community Facility Program invested over $199 million in rural Pennsylvania through 58 community facilities loans and grants. Community Facilities programs help build, expand, rehabilitate, purchase, and support the development of police and emergency fire stations and equipment, museums, child care centers, hospitals, clinics, schools, and more.

President Obama’s historic investments in rural America have made our rural communities stronger. Under his leadership, investments in housing, community facilities, businesses and infrastructure have empowered rural America to continue leading the way – strengthening America’s economy, small towns and rural communities.
