Larry Gene Starks

Larry Gene Starks, 77 of Jamestown, NY passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born on March 22, 1938 in Jamestown, NY a son of the late Clair C. and Ethel A. (Carbaugh) Starks.

Larry is survived by his lovely wife Barbara L. (Vallentine) whom he married on July 11, 1964.

Mr. Starks is a US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam conflict.

Following his time in the military, he worked for Pillsburg Lime Service and Busti Lime Service for a combined total of 17 years.

Following which, he was employed by the City of Jamestown, NY Sanitation Dept. where he retired after 30 years.

Besides spending time with his family, Larry enjoyed camping, watching wrestling & John Wayne movies, and tinkering as a mechanic.

Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter Darlene M. Kane and her husband Ben of Punxsy; three sons, Larry G. Starks and his wife Marilyn of Jamestown, NY, Gordon A. Starks and his wife Beth of Jamestown, NY, and Timothy J. Starks and his wife Shannon of Frewsburg, NY. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Briana, Jacob and his wife Misty, Robert, Larysa, Brooke, Lucas, Cotton, Maxwell, Kaitlin, and Peyton; two step-grandchildren, Marisa and Douglas; and a sister, Lois Fiebelkorn of Cassadaga, NY. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother John and an infant sister Marilyn; two adult sisters, Beverley Pratt and Betty Pratt; and an adult brother, George Starks.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, Mr. Stark’s funeral arrangements will be private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., of Punxsutawney.
