Larue Morrison Podmore

Larue Morrison Podmore, 97, formerly of Brockway, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Meadows Nursing Home in Dallas, PA.

Larue was born on August 29, 1920, to Charles J. and Effie W. (O’Harrow) Morrison.

She was married to Millard Morrison of Brockway and later to Clark Podmore of Winter Park Florida, where she resided until his passing several years ago.

Larue was blessed with a full life. She graduated from Snyder Township High School. Besides operating the family farm, including the Hillview Dairy, she was involved in coal mining operations, including trucking. She served as a bookkeeper for the Sugar Hill Livestock Sale Barn, worked at the Brockway Citizens Bank (which later became S & T), and sold real estate prior to her retirement and subsequent move to Florida.

Larue enjoyed her family, embroidery, and travel, including motorcycle travel through the northern states and Canada. She served as Worthy Matron for the Eastern Star and was a member of the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Sue Downey of Dallas, PA, and Mary Ann (Ross) Donahue of Treasure Lake; four grandchildren, Amy (Steven), of Easton, MD, Garth (Arina), of Chesapeake, VA, Zachary (Sheila), of Malvern, PA, and Brian (Katy), of Cheverly, MD; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three step-daughters and their families.

She was the last surviving member of her family’s generation and was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Willena Mae, Ruth, Glendora, Bonnie, and Jean; three brothers, Dale, “Perry”, and Les, and a son-in-law, Dan Downey.

Visitation will be held at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois, PA, on Monday, April 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, with Reverends David and Emily Koehler officiating. Burial will be take place at Beechwoods Cemetery.
