Lena Louise (Bango) Astorino, 88, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Lutheran Home in Kane, PA.
She was a former resident of Walston and Punxsutawney, PA.
She was born December 7, 1926 in Conifer, PA, the daughter of the late Dominic Bango of Troia, Italy and Clara (Sebastiani) Bango of Brockwayville, PA.
She graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1946.
She worked for many years at the shoe factory in Big Run, PA.
She married Ross Astorino on June 11, 1977 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Walston, PA. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1999.
She was a member of SS Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney, PA.
She as a very caring and loving family member who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by one son, William J. Astorino and his wife, Wanda of Sunbury, PA; three nephews; Dennis Bango and his wife, Robin of Haymarket, VA; Brian Bango and his wife, Valerie of Smethport, PA; and Thomas Bango and his wife Michele of Russell, PA. She is also survived by numerous great- nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her step-father, Gennaro Dicello, and her brother, Joseph Bango.
Friends will be received at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, PA on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 10-11 AM.
The funeral servce will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Msgr. Joseph J. Riccardo officiating.
Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Punxsutawney, PA.
The family requests that donations in memory of Mrs. Astorino be made to SS Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church or to SS Cosmas and Damian School in Punxsutawney, PA.
