Linda J. Brownfield Ellenberger

Linda J. Brownfield Ellenberger, 68, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday September 26, 2015.

She was born April 20, 1947, the daughter of the late Mary Shaw and Stanley Griffin.

She was a co-owner of Griffins Personal Care Home and worked for Joe Fidas in Belle Vernon.

While living in Connellsville, she was called the “Block Mom” because she was like a mother to all the children who lived in their block.

Linda is survived by James Brownfield, Jr. and wife Janet of Greensburg, Dorothy and husband Stan Henderson of Robinson, Loretta Brownfield of Masontown, Owen Brownfield, Jr. and wife Amy of Ohio, Tammy Hardy of Altoona; step-sons Fred “Spike” Ellenberger of Punxsutawney; adopted step-sons, Harry Dunlap of Connellsville, Tim Dunlap of Uniontown, Ted Dunlap of Connellsville, John Shiock and wife Kae of Indiana; a sister Barbara Firestone and husband Denny of Mineral Springs, NC; and a brother Mark Griffin of Connellsville; ten grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Amanda, Stephenie, Tristan, Rhienna, Rickey, Bethanny, Noel, and Noah; and a great-granddaughter on the way, Kirra Faith Schuler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Charles Ellenberger, Owen Brownfield, Sr., and Jim Brownfield, Sr.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 29th, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

Interment will be in Flatwoods Cemetery, Connellsville.
