Local Firefighter’s Home Destroyed in Corsica Blaze

CorsicaCORSICA, Pa. (EYT) – Firefighters from Corsica Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched early this morning to a residential fire on Olean Road, in Corsica Borough, Jefferson County.

The fire occurred around 5:35 a.m. at an apartment located at 425 Olean Road.

Firefighters from Brookville, Pine Creek, and Summerville fire departments assisted at the scene.

Corsica Fire Chief Don Smith told exploreJeffersonpa.com, “The fire was contained within the apartment. It appears to be a total loss.”

The fire was ruled accidental and believed to be electrical in nature.

There were no injuries.

The scene was cleared around 8:15 a.m.

The apartment was home to a local firefighter.

“Thoughts and prayers go out to one of our brother firefighters who lost his home this morning due to a structure fire,” said Corsica VFC in a post on their Facebook page.
