Local Man Accused of Pushing Son Against Wall, Grabbing Him By the Throat

SNYDER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local man is facing charges after he allegedly pushed his son against a wall and grabbed him by the throat during an argument.

According to court documents, DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 53-year-old Richard Lee Anderson, of DuBois, on September 5.

The charges stem from a domestic incident that occurred on September 4 at a residence located on Majestic Road in Snyder Township, Jefferson County, involving Richard Anderson.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Trooper Gould, of PSP DuBois, around 11:50 p.m. on September 4, he was dispatched to the above-described location for the report of a physical domestic.

Upon Trooper Gould’s arrival, around 12:19 a.m. on September 5, he learned that the victim was at a different residence, so he conducted his interview at that house.

The victim reported that he and his father were involved in a verbal argument which turned physical. The victim stated that his father pushed him up against the wall and grabbed him by his throat. The victim said that his father – Richard Lee Anderson – squeezed his throat so hard that he was unable to breathe, according to the complaint.

According to the victim, he pushed his father away from him, grabbed his cell phone, and left the house to call 9-1-1.

During Trooper Gould’s interview with the victim, he was able to see red marks on his neck along with a red mark on his chest, the complaint states.

Anderson was arraigned at 9:20 a.m. on September 5 in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on the following charges:

– Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

His bail was set at $25,000.00 unsecured.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. on September 25 in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana.
