Local Man Charged After Being Caught With Large Amount of Narcotics

SANDY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local man was recently charged for allegedly possessing a large amount of illegal narcotics in Sandy Township in 2018, following an investigation by PSP DuBois and the Special Emergency Response Team.

Court records show that on Thursday, November 2, 2023, DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 32-year-old Derek Andrew Hamilton, of DuBois, in Magisterial District Judge David S. Meholick’s office.

According to a criminal complaint, information was received on October 30, 2018, from a known male who directly implicated Derek Hamilton as being involved with the distribution of illegal narcotics.

As a result of that information, a search warrant was obtained for a known auto shop in Clearfield County and Hamilton’s residence located on Anderson Road in Sandy Township, Clearfield County, the complaint states.

On October 31, 2018, with the assistance of SERT-WEST (Special Emergency Response Team), the warrants were executed.

While searching the residence for documents, a safe was accessed by Cpl. Bryan Ripple, at which time, U.S. currency and marijuana were located, the complaint indicates.

Based upon these facts, the residence search was stopped and the complaint notes that an additional search warrant for the location was obtained from Judge Norman A. Krumenacker III.

As a result of the search warrant, multiple items of contraband and paraphernalia, as well as other items, were seized. These items include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • 12 THC vape cartridges
  • 213 THC gummy bear packs
  • Bag of marijuana
  • Small jar of marijuana wax
  • 117 THC gummy bear packs
  • Jar with marijuana
  • THC cookies
  • Box containing 37 THC vials
  • Containers of wax and paraphernalia

All items were taken into custody, transported to Troop C – DuBois Station, and later entered into evidence, the complaint states.

Hamilton was charged with the following offense on Thursday, November 2, 2023:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 8, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Judge Meholick presiding.
