Local Man Charged for Trespassing at Store in Punxsy

YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A local man was charged for allegedly trespassing at a store in Punxsutawney.

Court records show on April 10 Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 27-year-old Adam Michael Ferko, of Punxsutawney, in District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.

According to a criminal complaint, PSP Punxsutawney troopers were dispatched to a store on State Route 119 in Young Township, Jefferson County, around 1:24 p.m. on February 20, in regards to Adam Ferko being inside the store after he was told he was not welcome on several occasions.

A store employee told police that Ferko has come to the store on several occasions and caused a scene by “yelling and acting strange,” the complaint states.

The employee said she knows of three times Ferko has been told to leave and not come back with the most recent time being February 13. However, on February 20, Ferko came into the store around 12:27 p.m. and just paced back and forth in front of the store. This is when the employee told Ferko to leave, the complaint indicates.

Ferko then came back to the store and yelled, “Why won’t you help me, you just lost a customer,” according to the complaint.

The employee said she told Ferko to leave again, locked the door, and called her boss to explain what was happening. She then told police she does not feel safe at work due to Ferko’s outbursts and strange behavior every time he comes into the store, the complaint notes.

A criminal history check of Ferko showed he was issued a non-traffic citation for trespassing on February 13, the complaint states.

Police then contacted Ferko, who stated he was having issues with his new cell phone and wanted to send it back for a new one. He was asked if he was ever told by store employees or PSP that he was not allowed at the store, to which he replied he thought he was allowed back because “it was a new week,” according to the complaint.

Ferko was informed that trespass warnings are indefinite, and he is not allowed to go back to the store anymore, the complaint notes.

Ferko was charged with the following:

– Defiant Trespassing Actual Communication to Actor, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on May 2 with Judge Mizerock presiding.
