Local Man Sentenced to State Prison for Rape of a Child, Related Offenses

INDIANA/JEFFERSON CO., Pa. — District Attorney Robert Manzi announced on Monday that Tyler Stormer, 24, of Big Run, was sentenced to serve up to 20 years in a state correctional institution, with consecutive probation.

Cumulatively, Stormer is ordered to serve no less than 10 years and no more than 20 years in a state correctional institution. Subsequent to that, Stormer will serve four years of re-entry supervision.

On December 13, 2023, Stormer entered a no-contest plea to fifteen (15) offenses related to an assault of a child. The defendant entered the no-contest plea to the following offenses:

– 1 count of Rape of a Child with serious bodily injury, a felony of the first degree;
– 1 count of Rape of a Child, felony of the first degree;
– 1 count of Rape, a felony of the first degree;
– 4 counts of Indecent Assault, person less than 13 yrs. old, a felony of the third degree;
– 2 counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault of a Child, a felony of the first degree;
– 2 counts of Aggravated Indecent Assault, person less than 13 yrs. old,  a felony of the third degree; and
– 4 counts of Harassment, summary offense.

In early 2021, the Pennsylvania State Police received a Childline report of a minor child being assaulted by the defendant. The minor victim participated in forensic interviews at the CARE Center of Indiana County and the Western Pa CARES for Kids CAC in Jefferson County.

With the forensic interviews and the extensive investigation conducted by the State Police, charges were filed against the defendant on August 2, 2023.

“I want to acknowledge the strength the victim had to come forward and relay the horrendous crimes that occurred. I know that the victim is being supported and being provided services to help process these terrible events” said Manzi. “I also want to applaud the diligent and professional investigative efforts of the Pennsylvania State Police that led to this perpetrator being removed from our community. As for the defendant, I hope he spends every second of that sentence in state prison.”
