Local Man Who Lead Police on Chase Taken into Custody

COOPER TWP., Clearfield Co., Pa. (EYT) – A local man who lead police on a chase early Saturday morning has been apprehended.

Around 1:42 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, Clearfield-Based State Police attempted a traffic stop on a 2003 Saab on Trolley Street in Cooper Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle, identified as 28-year-old Matthew Rockey, of Winburne, Pa., refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated, traveling north on Trolley Street onto Valley Road, then turning south onto School House Road and finally east onto Hardscrabble Road where Rockey allegedly drove onto a trail and abandoned the vehicle.

Police say a foot chase then ensued through the woods, and Rockey could not be located.

According to police, charges of fleeing and eluding police, along with multiple summary violations, are being filed through District Cost 46-3-03.

Rockey has since been taken into custody.
