The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Bell Township in early October.

According to a criminal complaint, between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on October 5, John Paul Wingert and Jennifer Lynn Green allegedly entered into a verbal altercation at a residence on Robertsville Road in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

The altercation became physical when Wingert allegedly shoved Green onto a bed and began to strangle her with his right hand, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Green began to lose consciousness, and Wingert then shoved her throughout the bedroom. After a short time, Green was then able to free herself from Wingert, but Wingert then allegedly attacked her again and began to choke her on the porch. Green reported that she then woke up on the bed.

The complaint notes Green suffered injuries to her neck, chest, and legs/knees. Visible scratches and bruising were observed.

After he was taken into custody, it was noted that Wingert had visible injuries to his left forearm, right knee, and the left side of his face. According to the complaint, Wingert stated that while he and Green were drinking at the residence, he decided to leave, taking a mattress, and a physical altercation ensued during which Green allegedly dug her fingernails into his left forearm, right knee, and the left side of his face.

Wingert was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8.

He remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $20,000.00 monetary bail.

The charges agains Green were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on October 28.
