Local Woman Accused of Stealing Cat Carrier From Goodwill Donation Bin

WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A local woman was charged for allegedly stealing from the Goodwill donation bin in Winslow Township.

Court documents records show DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 19-year-old Shantell Deserea Neiswonger, of Reynoldsville, in Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on October 23.

According to a criminal complaint, the theft occurred around 10:35 p.m. on August 16 at the Goodwill store located on U.S. Route 322 in Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

The complaint states that Shantell Neiswonger removed a white/tan plastic cat carrier from the area of the donation bin while she was on the property of Goodwill.

Neiswonger then placed the cat carrier into the open bed area of a red Dodge RAM 2500 pickup truck before vacating the property, the complaint indicates.

Trooper John Connor interviewed Neiswonger, who admitted to taking the cat carrier and currently possessing it in her residence. Neiswonger told police the container was in her residence and dirty due to use by cats, the complaint notes.

Neiswonger was in possession of the stolen item as of September 10, according to the complaint.

Neiswonger was charged with the following:

  • Theft By Unlawful Taking – Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 21 at 12:45 p.m. with Judge Inzana presiding.
