Local Woman’s Vehicle Struck by Rogue Hay Bales That Fell Off Flatbed Truck on Route 322

ELK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Clarion are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Elk Township on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at the intersection of U.S. Route 322 and Soap Fat Road in Elk Township, Clarion County, at 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, according to PSP Clarion.

Police say what is believed to be a flatbed truck was turning right onto Route 322 when its load shifted, causing multiple bales of hay to fall onto the roadway.

According to police, a 2018 Honda Accord driven by 74-year-old Susan A. Jones, of Brookville, was subsequently struck by the bales of hay, causing minor damage to her vehicle.

No injuries were reported, however, the identity of the flatbed and its operator are still unknown at this time, police said.

Trooper Shaffer is investigating this incident.
