COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – MacBeth’s Cabins in Cook Forest will be hosting a special Bigfoot event in July.
When Mike MacBeth, owner of MacBeth’s Cabins, heard there was going to be a Bigfoot conference in the area, he couldn’t resist trying to get in on the action. Though the conference he heard about is a private event, already booked well in advance, MacBeth decided the proximity might give him an opportunity to hold an event of his own.
He made contact with Amy Bue, a Bigfoot researcher from Ohio with knowledge of and experience in our region.
“She has a long history in the area. She’s stayed with us in our cabins, and growing up, her family had a cabin up in the Allegheny National Forest, so she’s been in this area quite a bit,” MacBeth said.
Bue, whose interest in Bigfoot started with a personal experience in her youth, is involved with the Bigfoot Field Research Organization, or BFRO.
According to MacBeth, Bue has been investigating the thirty plus Bigfoot sightings in Clarion and Forest Counties.
Bue also does presentations about her research for interested groups, which made her a perfect candidate for MacBeth’s event idea.
On Friday, July 13, Amy Bue will be the guest speaker at MacBeth’s Bigfoot event.
The tentative schedule is a meet and greets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a presentation from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and finally, a guided Bigfoot expedition through the park will be conducted starting at 9:00 p.m.
MacBeth stressed that he wants this to be a family-friendly event, so the guided expedition is not expected to be a difficult hike.
“It’s for all ages. She’s going to talk about what goes into an investigation and just some of the stories she’s heard.”
“People can come in, see what these folks are looking at, what they’ve found, how they go about it, and the stories they have about it. We just thought it would be a really fun event to do. I know our clientele are really into fun stuff like this.”
“We aren’t sure how many people are going to show up, but there’s a lot of interest in it.”
