Man Facing Strangulation Charges Following Domestic Incident in Brockway

BROCKWAY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A local man is facing felony strangulation and related charges following a domestic incident that occurred on Sunday in Brockway.

According to police, around 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, a known 28-year-old Brent Cousins, of Kersey, and a known 33-year-old Brockway woman were involved in a domestic incident inside of the Cousins’ car while located outside of the woman’s house on Main Street in Brockway Borough.

Police say through the course of the argument, the woman spit on Cousins and slapped him in the face and Cousins then strangled her.

Court documents indicate Cousins was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas Robert Chambers at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, on the following charges:

– Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact Summary

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, he remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

Charges have not been filed against the woman as of Wednesday morning.
