Margaret Jane (Seeley) McCool

Margaret Jane (Seeley) McCool, 91, of Sigel, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA.

She was born on May 21, 1932, to the late Leroy and Eva (Songer) Seeley in Knoxdale, PA.

Margaret worked as head cook at the Jefferson Manor, retiring after twenty-five years; prior to the Jefferson Manor, she worked at the Cameron plant in Reynoldsville, PA.

Margaret’s top priority was being a caregiver to her family. She was the matriarch of the McCool family and will be dearly missed.

Margaret married Kenneth Eugene McCool on May 5, 1956, in Hazen, PA. Ken preceded her in passing on September 15, 2022. Margaret loved the Pennsylvania Wilds that she called home. For many years she planted and maintained large gardens consisting of flowers and vegetables; she always kept her mind and hands busy.

She loved to cook, bake, and in later years she would regularly complete word searches and read. She loved creating things and was known to sew and crochet. She enjoyed family history and looking at family photos. She enjoyed art and loved watching Bob Ross on PBS. Margaret enjoyed listening to country music, especially Johnny Horton. She loved sharing her talents with her family and would spend all of her time with them if she could.

Margaret is survived by two daughters: Betsy J. McCool and Linda K. McCool.

In addition to her husband, Margaret is preceded in passing by one son: Kenneth Wayne McCool. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in passing by her parents; five brothers: John, Francis, Paul, Elmer, and Charles Seeley; and two sisters: Harriet Muth Brown and Goldie Lindemuth.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, beginning at 12:00 pm and officiated by Pastor Jimmy Swogger.

Interment will take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
