Margaret “Peg” C. Weaver

Margaret “Peg” C. Weaver, 94, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, during a short stay at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

Peg was born on July 26, 1923, to the late Joseph M. and Margaret (Milliron) Crawford in Brookville, PA. She graduated from Brookville High School and then continued her studies at the West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. She became a registered nurse. Many remember Peg as a school nurse, employed by the Brookville Area School District.

On October 6, 1944, she married Walter R. “Pete” Weaver in Brookville, PA; Pete preceded her in passing on January 16, 2012. After Pete’s passing, she moved to the Laurels in Brookville.

Peg was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star and she loved to play bridge. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookville, PA. For over 50 years she was a member of the Pinecrest Country Club and she enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends. She attributed her good health to time spent outside, walking either on the golf course or with her beloved dogs.

Her gift was her generosity. Her family and friends will fondly remember her freshly baked bread and raisin filled cookies. She enjoyed quilting and gave every one of her perfectly stitched quilts to family, friends, and church organizations. She never kept a single quilt for herself. Her preferred method was appliqué style quilting, which she mastered. She was also skilled in knitting, and she donated many items to community organizations.

Peg is survived by two sons; Dr. William “Bill” J. Weaver of Brookville, PA; Dr. Mark E. Weaver of Ft. Myers, Florida; two grandchildren, Mathew and Zachary; and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Ella, and Arden.

In addition to her husband and parents, Peg is preceded in death by one son; Jerry Alan Weaver; four brothers; Dale, Arden, Bill, Glenn; and two sisters; Florence and Belva.

Peg had requested that her arrangements remain private and they have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA.

Memorials contributions should be directed to the YMCA or the Library. She appreciated both.
